WOW Leaders Give Back

WOW Leaders Give Back

WOW leaders do more than pad their own resumes and further their own careers–they inspire others, encourage others, and give back to others. Giving back to those who need assistance, guidance, or support not only helps keep you grounded, humble, and positive, but it’s simply the right thing to do. There are so many ways to open your heart, lend a hand, and extend goodwill–you just have to be willing to give back.

In an age where we’re constantly bombarded with bad news and financial challenges, tensions and stress levels often run high. The average American feels as if they’re perpetually taking one step forward and two steps back. For many, it’s difficult enough making ends meet at home without feeling like they have to do more. With everyone so distracted by their own struggles, who has the time, energy, or means to give back to anyone else? The simple fact is, we all have the means to give back.

Giving back can certainly be a large-scale, grand effort like setting up a foundation, organizing a fundraiser, or donating substantial funds to support worthy causes. But it doesn’t have to be that extensive to be impactful and effective. There are countless ways to give back in small, but meaningful ways. Small, $5 donations add up when enough people chip in; and 1 hour of time volunteering at a local food pantry or shelter touches the lives of many needy families.

Even thoughtful, friendly gestures like waving through a car in traffic, giving up your seat on the train, or holding the door for a stranger are ways to pay some positivity forward. You never know how much your small act of kindness may mean to someone down on their luck, feeling lost, or struggling in some way. WOWs don’t just look for ways to succeed, they find ways to inject positive energy into the world and help others be successful as well.

This month, The Staak Report has been campaigning to help school children from several local Guatemalan schools. My kids have adopted this as their own personal cause, so it’s near and dear to my heart. I’ve been asking my readers to simply sign up to receive email notifications of my posts, and in return, I’ll give funds to their Guatemalan Giving effort. Even if you don’t feel personally connected to the cause, it’s a quick, easy, and meaningful way to give back.

Beyond signing up for my blog, think about ways you can help make a difference. What causes are you passionate about? What motivates you, inspires you, touches you, or concerns you? Whether you can give in a big or small way, take action and make the commitment to be a WOW and give back.
