Mourning for Boston

Mourning for Boston

Like the rest of the nation, my heart goes out to the runners, spectators, and community of Boston in the wake of the Marathon bombings. The loss of life, pain and suffering of the injured, and trauma endured by those witnessing the carnage is unimaginably horrific. The tragedy extends beyond the streets of Boston, stinging the hearts of all Americans as we mourn this senseless act. But as sad as we may be for what happened, we can also be proud of the actions and deeds of those on the scene. So many heroic individuals immediately came to the aid of those injured, risking their own lives to help their fellow man. Those brave leaders who stepped up and took action in the midst of an uncertain chain of events are to be admired and honored for their selflessness. It’s often in a time of need or crisis that NOW leaders emerge. And when the bombs exploded in Boston, that’s exactly what happened. Although I’m deeply saddened by the deadly and cowardly act of violence, I’m also deeply moved by the images of a community coming together to help one another. I mourn for Boston, but celebrate the strength and determination of America and her people.
